Long Overdue

This is my first post as a new graduate, I have been busy completing my final collection and degree show exhibition which is why this is my first post in months. I am living in London again and loving the beautiful weather, perfect for exploring all that London has to offer. After an unfortunate back injury which incapacitated me for a few weeks I am feeling inspired to start the next chapter of my life.

A quick trip to the Royal College of Art Graduate Show 2013

I have always thought of the RCA as the pinnacle of design and textiles, I am still holding onto the hope that I will do my MA there in a few years. This year, the show was fabulous and featured really strong print and embroidery work. The craftsmanship involved was mesmerising, showing how great a leap there is between BA and MA levels of work. The show really inspired my next move, after a break from design work all I want to do is start creating again, I am in the process of collating ideas and inspiration and am intrigued by the idea of exploring circles and squares and how I can create wonderful repeats both digitally and by hand. I usually focus my work on tiny details of stitch and beading and I am excited to broaden my way of working by experimenting with print. It is important for me to constantly adapt and open my eyes to new ways of working, as I want to have a wide spectrum of work in my ever changing portfolio.
